New Year’s Day Note to My Younger Self
Many people write notes to their younger selves. A few of them publish those notes. Some become best selling novels. I’ve never written a note to my younger self, but if I did, it probably wouldn’t make the blockbuster list because it would go something like this:
Dear 10-year-old me,
Don’t be stupid. By that, I mean don’t do things you know are wrong. That’s the best advice I can give you, but I know you won’t listen. I say that because it is now several decades past your 10th birthday, and guess what? You didn’t listen.
Your future self
Okay, so as excellent as that advice is (anyone who has survived several decades past their 10th birthday can attest to this) it’s not bound for the Barnes and Noble front shelf. However, since today is the dawn of a brand new year, I will write a note to my older self in the hope that I’ll listen this time:
Dear Older, Wiser me,
Today, 2018 begins. Don’t be stupid.
Your current self
Good advice never grows old.
Happy New Year!!!
